What is Clearing?

Using Clearing to secure your space

Clearing is an opportunity for you to apply for an undergraduate programme if you don’t hold any offers from an art school or university. During Clearing, art schools and universities match students without university places to programmes that have places available. You may be applying through Clearing because you have:

  • not received any offers from the art schools or universities that you have applied for;
  • changed your mind about what or where you want to study;
  • not received the exam results that you expected;
  • received better results than you expected;
  • missed the 30 June deadline for applying to art school or university, but want to study this autumn.

To find out more about Clearing at The Glasgow School of Art, you can listen to our Clearing Podcast. The episode features David Miller, Team Leader for the GSA Admissions Team as well as two current students talking about their experiences of the GSA and life in Glasgow.

Apply through Clearing

Clearing is now open and applications should be made directly to the GSA using our online form.

Visit our How to Apply page for more information on what information and documentation you’ll need to prepare and submit as part of your application.
