Living in Glasgow

Glasgow is a great city to live in if you are a student. It was recently ranked in the QS world rankings as the 4th best city in the UK for students, and is celebrated for its cultural and creative scene. The spirit of the city buzzes through its festivals, cultural institutions and events, as well as its DIY scene and grassroots organisations and groups. In Glasgow, you’ll meet people who care about creativity and innovation – whether that be in art, design or architecture – and want to use it to positively shape our society and the environment. This is what makes Glasgow a great city for students, and for our students in particular.

Accommodation

If you receive an offer through Clearing, we recommend that you get in touch with our halls of residence team as soon as possible to check the availability of space in two halls of residence. The best way to contact them is by telephone (+44) 141 566 1414 in the first instance. You can also email them at [email protected]

The Glasgow School of Art has two halls of residence Margaret Macdonald House and Blythswood House. These halls are both located in the heart of the city, very close to our Garnethill campus. Whilst rooms in these halls do get booked up, spaces can become available during the Clearing period so it’s important to contact us soon as possible after receiving an offer to discuss your options. Please contact our Accommodation office by telephoning (+44) 141 566 1414, or alternatively via email [email protected] .

If you are unable to secure a place in halls or choose to look for private accommodation in the city, we recommend that you start your search as soon as possible. We have some guidance for those looking for private accommodation options in the city here. Our student welfare team are also running drop-in sessions throughout the summer which offer holders through Clearing are welcome to attend.

You can ask our Clearing team for more information about these sessions and for more information on what it is like being part of the large international student community in Glasgow by telephoning the Admissions Clearing Helpline on 0800 193 7070.
